Mangaluru: The Muslim Central Committee will hold a massive protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the Shah Grounds in Kannur, Adyar, on Wednesday, January 15.
Muslim Central Committee president K S Mohammed Masood told reporters that more than one lakh people from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kerala are expected to participate and the organisers have discouraged women and children from taking part.
Retired IAS officers Harsh Mander and Kannan Gopinathan from ‘ We the people of India organisation, retired judge Gopal Gowda, human rights activist Shivasundar, advocate Sudheer Kumar Maroli would address the gathering.
He also informed that all the arrangments have been made for the protest meet. “We will organise the protest meet peacefully and Mangaluru Commissioner of Police, the IGP and the ADGP have given permission for the protest, on the basis of some guidelines so as to maintain peace,” he said.
Entrepreneur B M Mumtaz, former MUDA chairman Kodijal Ibrahim were present.
