Mangaluru: Two separate instances of moral policing have been reported from the city. However, this time round it was not the saffron brigade but Muslim groups who donned the role of moral police.
It is gathered that in one of the cases a man was assaulted by a group of 15 Muslim youth outside the city centre mall here on Monday alleging that he had brushed against a girl from the community. However, they fled the scene once the police arrived and the victim was taken to a hospital.
A case of rioting and attempt to murder has been registered with the Mangaluru North police.
The second incident was reported from Car street when a group of three persons started questioning a Muslim engineering student as to what she was doing with her lecturers at a stationary shop here. The trio reportedly abused them but fled after seeing the police.
Both the cases took place on Monday and complaints were filed on Tuesday.
