Mangaluru: MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, with the members of the State Assembly, met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in his residence on Thursday and discussed the issues related to the National highways.
In relation to Dakshina Kannada district, Canceling Surathkal Toll Gate, The issue of National Highway 169 – Sannoor – Bikarnakatte Road, Finalizing the four-lane road tender of National Highway 75 to BC Road-Addahole road, Converting the double laned road from Mulki-Kateel-Kaikamba-Polali-BC road- Panemangaluru via Thokkotta which connects the Managluru City’s Outer road into Four-lane road, Widening the Mani-Mysore State Highway from Mani to Kushalanagar, which is an alternative road to Mangalore-Bangalore were discussed in the meeting.
In response to the request of the MPs, the minister ordered a special meeting of the National Highway Officers to convene soon to cancel the Surathkal toll gate. The minister said that tenders for the quadrangular road at NH 75 – BC Road -Adda Hole Road and NH 169 sannoor – Bikarnakatte Road have already been completed. Under the Bharat Mala project, the double laned road which connects Mulki-Kateel-Kaikamba-Polali-BC road- Panemangaluru via Thokkotta connected to the Managluru City’s Outer road will be converted into a four-lane road with up-gradation. The Mani-Mysore State Highway from Mani to Kushalanagar will be considered as an alternative road to the Mangalore-Bengaluru highway and will be converted into a Four-lane road with up-gradations.
The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari assured Kateel, to look into the matter and ordered the concerned officers for further proceedings.
