Bantwal: Launching a strong tirade against Modi government, the state Congress working president drew parallel between the present NDA government to Tughlaq regime taking into account its autocratic rule.

The demonetisation move by the government has pushed the nation into anarchy and the amount of losses incurred on account of note ban will be known in the near future, said KPCC Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao addressing a Congress party convention ‘Congress nadige, Surajyada kadege’ at Bantwal.

He said, State Congress government does boast of any magic deeds but have not left people high and dry by giving time bound false assurances like the BJP which assured of changing the face of the nation within 100 days, referring to its pre election promise of unearthing huge amounts of black money stashed abroad.

“The Congress party always prepared programs for the poor, illiterate and oppressed sections in the society since independence,” he said adding that the state government’s pro-poor schemes – Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya,Vruna Muktha, Vidayasiri, Agricultural loan schemes etc are only continuation to the legacy of the Congress.

State is ahead of the rest in the country on Investment and pulses will be provided to people through PDS from February, Rao said listing achievements and plans.

Hit and Run politics of the BJP is a serious plot to dent the image of state government, said Rao and accused BJP of playing politics over dead referring to cases of D K Ravi, DySP Ganapathi, Kallappa Handibhag and Nanditha.

During his inaugural address, District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai cautioned party workers to be alert against the divisive forces trying to split the nation using religion and patriotism and work towards preserving the secular structure.

Taking an indirect dig at party rebels, Ramantah Rai said, the leaders who savoured the sweet are now criticising the party and its leaders. The party workers should not indulge in anti-party activities instead should work towards party’s progress, he said.

Terming PM Narendra Modi as ‘Dramodara Modi’, Rai said, It was Indira Gandhi who facilitated the poor to enter banks where as the Modi made them stand in queue to draw their own cash and called upon party workers to speared Gandhian message and party ideology in every corner of the state.

Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Dinesh Amin Mattu emphasised on the need to unite all secular elements.
