Mangaluru: The nine-day long Navaratri festival and Mangaluru Dasara Mahastova concluded on a vibrant note at Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara Temple on September 30.
Before the immersion procession commenced, the final pooja was offered to the idols of Navadurge, Sharada Devi and Ganapathi. During the procession, various tableaux, traditional dance teams by various folk artistes joined the procession and added colour to the celebrations.
Lakhs of devotees from various places thronged Kudroli Temple to witness the start of immersion procession (Shobha Yatre).
The devotees welcomed the procession by decorating their premises and offering flowers, coconut, fruits and Mangalarathi.
Former union minister B Janardhana Poojary, State Minister U T Khader, Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, President of Temple Managing Committee H S Sairam, Vice President Raghavendra Kulur, Secretary B Madhava Suvarna, Treasurer Padmaraj R, trustees B K Tharanath, Ravishankar Mijar, K Maheshchandra, Harikrishna Bantwal and others were present.
The Dasara procession will traverse from Kudroli-Ladyhill-Lalbagh-Ballalbagh-Kodialbail-Hampankatte-University College-Ganapathi High School Road-Car Street-Chitra Talkies and later culminate after immersion of idols in the temple pond at around 6 AM on October 1.
