Moodabidri: Local MLA and former minister Abhaychandra Jain inaugurated a series of development activities in Nellikaru village, which has been chosen under the Chief Minister’s Gram Vikas programme.
Under the programme, each village will be given a financial assistance of Rs 75 Lakh. The allotted funds will be used for the development of roads, construction of a community hall and a gymnastic centre.
It is no surprise that a gymnastic centre has been given importance because of the association of Abhaychandra Jain with sports. He was the minister of state for sports and youth affairs before being dropped from the Cabinet.
Nellikaru Gram Panchayat President Jayanth Hegde, Block Congress President Valerian Sequeira, ZP member Sunitha and others from local taluk panchyat, revenue, Mescom and Nellikaru GP were present on the occasion.
