New Mangaluru Port Celebrates 09th International Yoga Day.

Mangaluru: New Mangalore Port Authority today commemorated the International Yoga Day with great fervor. The day began with an inaugural ceremony by lighting the lamp by Dr. A. V. Ramana, Chairman NMPA presided over the function and     Shri. K.G. Nath Dy. Chairman, Shri, Padmanabhachar, Chief Vigilance Officer were Guests of Honor.

The event started with a welcome address by Shri. K. G. Nath, Dy. Chairman, about the numerous benefits of practicing yoga and its positive impact on physical and mental well-being. He also urged to take this special day to inculcate yoga practice in their daily routine.

Chairman in his presidential speech wished the gathering on the occasion of 09th International Day of Yoga. He emphasized on the importance of yoga and its role in fostering a healthy lifestyle. He added that Yoga is an instrument in keeping the body & mind aligned in resonance, it takes care of mental & physical health which is a need of every human in today’s era whether he is rich or poor. At the end he called for practicing Yoga in very disciplined way to enhance one’s health and enact on the actual meaning of “VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM”.

Dr. Jagadish Shetty, Yoga Guru led the participants through a series of yoga Asanas (poses), Pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques. The participants experienced the rejuvenating effects of yoga as they focused on enhancing their physical flexibility, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

Capt. S. R. Pattanayak, Dy. Conservator, NMPA & President NMPA Sports Council, expressed his gratitude to all participants. Senior Officers, Officials, employees, staff & school children of NMP English Medium School took active participation in the celebration and contributed in making the International Yoga Day celebration a resounding success.

Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, recognizing the significance of this global event, took the opportunity to promote wellness and mindfulness among its fraternity launched Yoga Sagarmala to combine the essence of yoga and the maritime environment, fostering a healthy & holistic lifestyle. The Ministry encouraged all to actively participate in Yoga Sagarmala by organizing yoga sessions and promote physical and mental well-being among officials, port workers and stakeholders. In this view the Port has been conducting Yoga practice from 15th June 2023 and also aboard ships, as a countdown to the International Day of Yoga 2023.
