Mangaluru: A newly married couple tragically lost their lives at the Thokkottu overbridge near Ullal on Tuesday, October 27. The two were returning home from work on a bike when they were run over by a heavy truck.
The deceased are identified are Priya Fernandes, a clerk at Father Muller Hospital, and her husband Ryan Fernandes, an attender at Father Muller Medical College. Both are residents of Bajal, however, they recently moved into a rented house in Bangera Lane in Ullal.
While Priya, who was riding pillion, died on the spot, Ryan died on the way to the hospital.
The accident, according to the police report, occurred when the truck plying via the Thokkottu flyover, hit the bike as they were making a right turn towards Ullal. The truck then ran over the Ryan and Priya, dragging them for a few meters before coming to a halt.
