Mangaluru: Bhu Malikara Horata Samithi NH 169 has alleged that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has resorted to corruption and have undertaken fraud while acquiring land from owners.
Addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday March 15, Brijesh Shetty Mijar alleged that the NHAI has involved in fraud and corruption while acquiring land for the road development works between Mangaluru and Karkala. The farmers and othe Roland owners have been cheated during the process of land acquisition.
He said that the officers concerned manipulated the guidelines, and gave an amount which was about 10 to 12 times less than the market value for the agricultural land. When the issue was brought to the notice of the deputy commissioner, he asked the NHAI regional office to resolve the matter, which was neglected, he informed.
“The bifurcation made as agricultural and converted land during the land acquisition process too is against the guidelines. While in the past two decades, it was impossible to convert land adjacent to NH 169, after 2016, 3A notification is being issued and permission has been given for land conversion, illegally, he added.
