Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi National Highway Horata Samithi has warned to lay siege on four tollgates along NH 66 in twin districts, if the construction of roadworks is not completed by the end of August.
Speaking in a press meet here on Monday, August 13, President of Horata Samithi Belapu Deviprasad Shetty said that on August 16, the committee will submit a memorandum to the state government through the DCs, against the inconvenience faced by the people due incompletion of road work along the National Highway 66.
“The contractors should complete the work by August end, failing which, the Horata Samithi along with local people will lay siege all the four tollgates in twin districts. The contractors either should complete the work or stop collecting toll,” he demanded adding that there are no proper connective roads at the tollgates, which are creating mishaps.
He alleged that the contractors along with officials of the National Highway Authority of India has submitted a false report to the court stating that 90% roadwork is been completed.
Former Mayor Ashraf, Honorary President of The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi National Highway Horata Samithi and others were present.
