Moodabidri: “The main reason for the delay in Mangaluru-Karkala four lane national highway work is former district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLAs Abhaychandra Jain and J R Lobo”, criticised Mangaluru Lok Sabha candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party Nalin Kumar Kateel, here on Wednesday, April 3.
Addressing a press meet during his campaigning, he said, “All the three leaders wanted it to be two lane and they wanted to physically assault the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials, during an important meeting.”
He said he was ready for a debate on it claiming he had all the proof.
Nalin accused saying, “The three leaders were worried that the land belonging to their near and dear ones would be acquired during the four laning. Even though it is a central government project, the land acquisition should be looked after by the state government. but they did not allow it to happen. The current state coalition government has given the permission and as per the plans, the process will begin from September 2019.”
He said that the old Gurupur bridge would be replaced with a new one.
