NICO to conduct nine workshops between July 9 and 20

Mangaluru: Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) will be conducting workshops on 9 different topics beginning on Monday, July 9. All the workshops will be held at the Institute’s premises at Paneer, Deralakatte.

Fees for the various workshops are as given below. The fees also include course material, lunch and refreshments.

Art and Art Appreciation

Date: 9th – 13th July

Course Fee: Rs 4000/-*

Resource Person: Nemiraj Shetty- A Masters in Fine Arts from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Prof Shetty is an Artist, Curator and Art Historian.

Understanding Advertising

Date: 16th to 20th July
Course Fee: Rs 3000/-*
Resource Person: Ajeya Padival- A Masters in Creative Advertising from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia, Mr Padival has been part of the team working on brands like BMW and Audi.

Graphic Designing

Dates: 16th – 20th July
Course Fee: Rs 3000/-*
Resource Person: Prof Raviraj- Head of Nitte Institute of Communication and Convenor of the Nitte International Film Festival, Prof Raviraj has been teaching graphic designing for over 12 years.

Web Designing

Dates: 9th – 12th July
Course Fee: Rs 3000/-*
Resource Person: Prathamesh Pai- Owner and CEO of Tansducent Technologies, a web and application development company.

Appreciating Films

Date: 16th – 20th July
Course Fee: Rs 3500/-*
Resource Person: Mr Pradeep KP (Deepu)- Co-Founder of Pedestrian Pictures, he is a documentary filmmaker and a cinematographer with several narrative feature films, ad films and documentaries to his credit. Deepu’s skill with the visual medium complemented by his deep understanding of the politics of media has also translated into teaching.

Basic Photography

Date: 9th – 13th July
Course Fee: Rs 3,000/-
Resource Person: Rahul Ganesh- A Masters in filmmaking from EICAR, Paris, Rahul has been a photographer and filmmaker for the past five years.

Pottery Making

Date: 11th – 13th July
Course Fee: Rs 3000/-*
Resource Person: Nagappa- In-charge of the Pottery Section at the Artisans Village in Pilikula, he routinely conducts workshops in pottery in different parts of the district.

Radio Jockeying and Television Presentation

Dates: 16th – 20th July
Course Fee: 3000/-*
Resource Person: Wilma Serrao and Anjali Rai- Wilma Serrao and Anjali Rai, both Assistant Professors at Nitte Institute of Communication, have seven and four years of experience respectively, in radio programming and hosting. While Wilma Serrao has been hosting shows for the past five years, Anjali Rai teaches presentation skills at NICO.

Short Filmmaking

Dates: 16th – 18th July
Course Fee: Rs 3500/-*
Resource Person: Prithvi Konnanur- An alumnus of New York Film Academy, his Kannada film on runaways, Railway Children, won both the National and State Awards in different categories. An engineer by qualification, he is a passionate filmmaker and storyteller.
