Mangaluru: “Instead of showing sympathy towards physically challenged people, people should create opportunities for them for a better life”, said Lions Club’sDistrict 317D Governor K Devadas Bhandary on Tuesday, November 27.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the state level `Special Olympics- 2018-19` at Mangala Stadium. He said, “Mere sympathy would not create any miracle in the life of special children. If special children are treated as normal children and have proper opportunities, they will not only achieve success in their life but also inspire others”, he said.
Special Olympics Director Kumuda said, “The 50th edition of international level Special Olympics will be held at Abu Dhabi from March 12 to 22, 2019. Special children from over 250 countries will be participating in the tournament. A total of 20 special sportspersons and five coaches who are already selected from Karnataka will be participating at the Special Olympics”, she added.
