Mangaluru: Notorious rowdy-sheeter Umar Farooq has been shot on his leg, for attacking the police while nabbing him.
Umar Farooq was a wanted criminal in a case pertaining to the plotting of murder of a person named Sameer. Sameer is said to be from the notorious gang, Target Group. The police were on a lookout for Farooq on Tuesday, May 28 midnight in Pachanady area in this case. Farooq, on seeing the police come for him, physically assaulted the police personnel.
According to police sources, he was requested to surrender but he went against the police. With no option left, they shot him in his leg. The police are yet to confirm on his health condition.
In the attack, Constable Sandeep was injured. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
