Mangaluru: The rage against energy minister D K Shivakumar among the BJP activists has been growing day by bay as they demand him to resign from his post, condemning him over his inefficiency as a minister.
The acute shortage of electricity in the State was criticized by the BJP in a protest held in front of the Mescom office near RTO here on Tuesday September 21.
Addressing the gathering, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the Congress government has been harassing the people of the State. He also said that in Northern Karnataka people are struggling because of the Kalasa-Banduri row, while the people of the Southern region are suffering because of the Yettinahole Project.
He further lashed at the Congress government stating that the CM was proud of ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme, but now we are experiencing ‘Katthale Bhagya’ (with reference to the power cut in the city on Sep 21), and if the Yettinahole project goes ahead, it will be a ‘Kanna Bhagya’.
“Energy minister D K Shivakumar should either perform or resign immediately. This is BJP’s demand,” Nalin Kumar concluded.
Earlier, former MLC Monappa Bhandary said that there is an acute shortage of power in the state. The Congress government has failed to provide electricity, during elections they had promised something but if they are not able to deliver, they must leave their posts.
Appreciating Congress leader Janardhan Poojary’s statement that the Yettinahole project was a ‘major scam’, he said, “Finally Congress leader Janardhan Poojary has understood that Congress government is a government of dacoits.”
