Sullia: “The state government has already decided to encourage and develop Kannada medium schools “, said district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was addressing the gathering on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of the Vivekananda Institutions, Vinobhanagar on Saturday, November 2.
The minister said, “Many Kannada medium schools in the rural areas are on the verge of extinction, due to decrease in number of students. On the other hand, we must be proud that the Dakshina Kannada district has been in the forefront in terms of education and health care sector.”
Chief guest of the programme, Parliamentarian and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “One school is equal to 100 temples. The contribution of Vivekananda Institution towards the society is commendable. It is not right to think that only those who study in English medium schools will excel in their lives. There are a number of examples where students who have studied in Kannada medium schools have turned into great personalities.”
MLA Angara S, MRPL project chief Sriranga, president of the Vivekananda Institutions administration board Shya Prasad Addantadka and others were present.
Meanwhile, a new hall “Rajatha Bhavana” was inaugurated by the dignitaries.
