Open trench posing threat to pedestrians and vehicles

Mangaluru: The road between the Fatima Retreat House and the School of Social Work is narrow. On the right side, as one enters the road from Valencia main road, is an open trench, apparently dug up to repair cables.

It is pretty deep and has been left uncovered for over a few days now. There is no proper light also on the stretch. If the drivers are unaware of the trench, their vehicle tyre is bound to drop into it. Same is the risk that pedestrians who turn into the road from the side of the Fatima Retreat House face.

They are blindsided as they enter. This hazard is not on account of any natural cause. It is man-made and must be rectified immediately and the persons concerned brought to book, says public.
