Mangaluru: Soon after news of Cafe Coffee Day founder-chairman V G Siddhartha going missing from a bridge over the Netravati river in Ullal came to light, search and rescue operations were launched.
Boats were pressed into action to find the missing business tycoon after a dog squad arrived at a final stop on a part of the bridge over the river.
Speaking about the ongoing rescue mission, district Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, “We are trying to cover all the angles. Our focus right now is on search and rescue. Eight teams are currently scouring the river and land with the NDRF.”
Recent heavy rains in coastal Karnataka have cause the water level in the Netravati to rise by leaps and bounds.
Meanwhile, the Central government has been asked to help in the search and rescue efforts.
Earlier, a letter believed to have been written by Siddhartha to the CCD Board of Directors was recovered. In the letter, allegedly written by the missing business tycoon, he explains his crumbling business situation and accuses an IT official of harassment.
