Over 15,000 devotees from coastal belt to take part in Datta Mala Abhiyan

Mangaluru: Over 15,000 devotees from Udupi, Mangaluru, Kodagu and Kasargod district will be participating in Datta Mala Abhiyan to be held between December 12 and 22.

Bajrang Dal (south region) regional convener Sunil K R, speaking to the reporters here, on Monday, December 10 said that ‘Datta Mala Dharana’ will be held on December 12. Various religious rituals like Anusooya Devi pooja, Ganapati homa, Durga homa among others will be held at Datta Peeta on December 20. Later, devotees would have a glimpse of Datta Paduka. A massive rally and public meeting will be held in Chikkamagaluru city on December 21, in which leaders from different religious and Hindutva outfits will participate. On the final day of December 22, Datta Jayanthi will be celebrated, he informed.

Appoint permanent Hindu priest and allow pooja round the year

Sunil urged to appoint a permanent Hindu priest at ‘Datta Peeta’. “As ‘Datta Peeta is a religious centre of Hindus, the government should declare that it is the Hindu religious centre only. In order to look after the religious activities of Hindus in `Datta Peeta` a permanent executive officer from Hindu community should be appointed. As it is the religious centre of the Hindu community, all the things connected to Islamic practices should be removed from Datta Peeta and it should be shifted to Baba Budan Dargah, he insisted.

Bajrang Dal regional co-convener Murali Hasanthadka, Mangaluru divisional convener Bhujanga Kulal, DK district convener Praveen Kuttar, co-convener Puneeth Attavar and Srikanth Thenkila were present.
