Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CEN Police has registered a case based on a complaint from a man who fell victim to a scam involving a fraudulent part-time job offer he received through social media.

As per the complaint, the man received a message on his Telegram account on October 16, offering him a part-time job. The job required him to get high ratings for products from a company called ‘Tune’ and promised him commissions and bonuses. However, to secure the job, he had to make an initial payment of ₹.  10,077.

Trusting the sender of the message, the man made the initial payment and started working. Subsequently, he was forced to make additional payments, totaling Rs 6.5 lakh, between October 18 and 26. These payments were demanded under the false pretext of obtaining luxury products. Sadly, he didn’t receive any products, and his money was not refunded. In response to this incident, the man reported the case to the Cyber Crime branch.
