Passengers attempt to smuggle foreign currency foiled; currency seized

Mangaluru: Custom officers seized smuggled foreign currency from two passengers who had no valid money exchange documents here on Wednesday.

The seized amount is 6,600 pounds, equivalent to Rs 6,49,440.

The passengers are identified as Mohammad Salih Yarool(36) and Mohammad Ashraf Abdulla(35) hailing from Pallikere in Kasargod.

The smuggled money has seized at the time of thier departure from Mangaluru International airport on Wednesday morning by Air India Express flight No.IX383 to Dubai.

Both the passengers attempted to smuggle the foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents.

Further investigation is under process.
