Mangaluru: “Chandhobramha” Dr. Chimantoor Narayana Shetty was conferred with the prestigious Patla Foundation Award for his contribution to the field of Yakshagana at the third anniversary celebrations of Yakshadruva Patla Foundation Trust at Adyar Garden on May 27.
Gurudevananda Swaijji of Gurudevadatta Samsthanam Odiyooru and Lakshminarayana Asranna priest of Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple Kateel along with other dignitaries conferred the award. The award consists of Rs 1 Lakh cash, a citation, shawl and “peta.”
Speaking to the audience after receiving the award Dr. Chimantoor Narayana Shetty praised the efforts of Sathish Patla for his initiative for the development of poor Yakshagana artistes, and donated a sum of Rs 1,01,008 Lakh from his prize money to the Patla Foundation.
On this occasion, Yakshadruva Kala Gaurava award was also conferred on Kuriya Ganapathi Shastri, Argodu Mohandas Shenoy, M K Ramesh Acharya, Anand Shetty Airalu, Kothottu Vasu Shetty and Mahalakshmi D Rao.
Shashikiran Shetty, Chairman of Allcargo Group presided over the function.
Film director Rishab Shetty, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, President of Bunts Association Pune Santhosh Shetty, President of Patla Foundations-Dubai Unit Sarvotham Shetty, Chairman of Fortune Groups Dubai Wakvadi Praveen Shetty, Shankar Shetty, President of Bhavani Shipping Company K D Shetty among others were present.
