Ullal: Despite successive governments boasting on development, life has not changed for Pavoor-Uliya residents living in an island spread over 50 acres land.

The island, 10 km away from the city has no road connectivity and residents depend on countrymade boat to reach the mainland.Life was no different for the residents on voting day, May 12. Deprived of hanging bridge for years, the families once gain relied on the dependable mode of transport,i.e., countrymade boats to reach the voting centres.

The island inhabited with 51 families has over 150 voters. Most voters reached their voting centre No 61 at the Zilla Panchayat owned primary school in Gadigadde to exercise their franchise in the morning.

The only consolation this time being, a political party owned the responsibility of ferrying the voters to the booth and back home!
