Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra on Friday, April 30, said that those waiting for the second dose of Covishield will be given first preference.
He said, “We just have a limited supply of anti-Covid vaccine doses right now. Many people are waiting for the second dose of the vaccine. As a result, those who are waiting for their second done will be given priority. There is no scope to register for vaccinations on the spot.
“For the first dose of Covishield, patients must schedule appointments online. Appointments will be made based on the availability of vaccinations. People should go to the vaccine clinic after receiving a message from the concerned hospital or health center. We anticipate receiving adequate vaccine doses in one or two days” he added.
Congress’ delegation led by former MLA Ramanath Rai and J R Lobo submitted a memorandum to DC to combat the Covid pandemic in the district.
The memorandum mentioned an increase in ventilators, a shortage of doctors and nurses, the hiring of PG medical students and private doctors, ensuring that oxygen and vaccines are not in short supply in each center, and receiving an immediate Covid test result.
In the memorandum, Congress also demanded that information about bed availability be publicly disclosed, that a nodal officer be named for each taluk, and that their contact information be shared with the public via the media, and that a blood donation camp be held.
