Mangaluru: Close on the heels of some passengers who arrived at Mangaluru on board the first evacuation flight from Dubai, on Tuesday complaining of lack of proper arrangement for handling the returnees, the district administratiom has raised the matter with the Airport authorities.
The first repatriation flight to Mangaluru from Dubai landed at the MIA late Tuesday night with 177 passengers. This included 38 pregnant women and 12 medical emergency cases.
The passengers, on arriving at MIA had spoken about paucity of manpower, which had put elderly, pregnant women and children to immense trouble.
Some had even circulated the video of their arrival and confusions that followed within the airport premises, after having been made to wait for long hours, in queue to clear the required proceedure.
After the issue was out, in a letter addressed to Mangalore International Airport Director VV Rao, Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Rupesh has urged the former to personally oversee arrangements when special flights arrive.
The DC, while mentioning that she had issued prior directions to the airport authorities to extend support to the passengers, requested the Airport Director to personally oversee the arrangements during the next flight to avoid such episodes from recurring.
