Pilikula to host Pilikula Habba to foster district’s culture from Dec 24

Mangaluru: Pilikula Habba will be held at Dr Shivaram Karanath Nisargadhama, Pilikula from December 24-27, Executive Director of the Nisargadhama Prabhakar Sharma informed on Tuesday December 22.

Presiding over a meet in the absence of the District Deputy Commissioner, Sharma said that the four-day fest has been organized to preserve and foster the district’s culture and tradition. The events will be held under the joint aegis of all the linguistic associations.

President of Tulu Sahitya Academy Janaki Brahmavar informed that the Academy will host Tulu Parba on December 24. The Parba will comprise folk sports and games, which will be monitored by former Academy member Yadav Karkera. In addition, there will be quiz competition on Tulu culture, folk, literature and language. A procession depicting Tulu culture will be taken out at 4 pm. Later in the evening, the audiences will be treated to Tulu musical performances by renowned singer Prakash Maghadevan and team, followed by Kod’dabbu Tannamaniga.

The show will be wrapped after a performance by popular magician Kudroli Ganesh.

December 25, the day of Christmas will see performances organized by Konkani Sahitya Academy. Kuswar and Christmas cake exhibition and sale, Christmas carols in Konkani, Tulu, Kannada, Hindi and English, quiz and a volleyball tournament will be the primary attractions of the day, President Roy Castelino said.

The Beary Sahitya Academy will open their show with Daff competition from 3-5 pm on December 26. A maximum of 10 teams will be participating in the competition. The teams will be considered on first come first serve basis. This will be followed by the
stage programme. A mehandi competition will be held for ladies. Tass Arabic Dance, Parekali, Beary Kodava orchestra, Kolkali
Kodava dance and Beary folk games such as bilis, lagori, baccha and goliyata will be the other events to be held on December 26.

Pilikula Habba Competitions will be held on December 27. A special ice cream eating competition for children and fireless cooking competition for adults will be conducted. Hejje Gejje Ninadolagenuttu by Vidhushi Prameela Likesh and team form Puttur, Kolata by Maragodu ladies team, Arebashe folk dance and songs and Shobane will be conducted by Karnataka Arebhase Samskriti and Sahitya Academy in association with Kalkura Prathishtana and Nisarga Foundation.
