Police arrest 3 drug peddlers operating from city lodge, 10 kg ganja seized

Mangaluru: Acting on a tip-off, the Mangaluru crime branch police (CCB) conducted a raid at a city lodge and arrested three persons involved in drug peddling and seized 10kg of ganja and other items valuing around Rs 3 lakhs from the spot on Monday, July 3.

Rameez Raaz, a resident of Naringana, Bantwal, Mohammed Haneef, a resident of Natekal and Iqbal Haris, a resident of Belma are the persons arrested. They have been involved in several cases of drug peddling, besides other cases of assault earlier.

The accused reportedly had rented a room at the lodge in Falnir and had brought ganja smuggled from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh for the purpose of sale here. Their clientele also included college students.

The other items recovered from the spot included three mobile phones, a weighing scale, plastic pouches for packing of ganja, a two-wheeler and around Rs 9,500 cash, which were handed over to Mangluru north police.

A team of officers under the guidance of by ACP Valentine D’Souza and led by CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik conducted the raid operation.
