Mangaluru: The police struck the bank locker of Adithya Rao, who is accused of planting bomb at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and reportedly seized some paper documents from the locker on Tuesday, January 28.

As Adithya Rao is in police custody, Mangaluru police have been conducting an inquiry to gather more information about the episode of planting bomb in MIA.

It can be noted that police have seized a packet of chemicals, suspected to be cyanide and paper documents from Karnataka Bank, located at Kunjibettu in Udupi district a few days ago.

After questioning him, police found that he has a bank locker in Mangaluru also. Hence, a team of police had been to a Bank in Kadri and seized some paper documents from that locker on Tuesday. However, it is yet to be ascertained as to what those documents are.

Aditya, a BE and MBA graduate worked in more than 20 organisations and was unhappy in life as he felt that was not getting the recognition and respect that his talent and intellect deserves. It is said that this is when he bid goodbye to white-collar jobs and turned to blue-collar jobs. He then worked as security guard, hotel steward etc. However, an incident of the Kempegowda International Airport denying him a job of security guard led him to develop hatred towards the airports. After having made hoax bomb call to Kempegowda airport in the past and also serving jail for 11 months in connection to the same case, he decided to do something bigger and thus hatched the MIA bomb plot, on completing jail term.

The bomb news had left the entire region in state of fear. However, alert police, CISF and bomb squad and handled the situation well. The device was detonated at Kenjar, near MIA. Aditya Rao is in police custody as of now.

Compol cautions against spreading fake news

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha cautioned of taking strict action against those who are spreading rumours on bomb scare incident.

A web media has published an article stating that accused Aditya Rao had a plan to blast Hotel ‘Gold Finch’ in order to divert the attention of public from protest against Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
