Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police launched a surprise raid on the District Jail here at 3:30 PM on April 14.
It is gathered that under the guidance of Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, a team comprising three assistant commissioners of police, five inspectors, two sub inspectors and 25 constables raided the jail led by DCP (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya and DCP (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashanth raided the jail premises.
Speaking to media, DCP Hanumantharaya said, “Today afternoon we have conducted a surprise raid to the jail along with the cooperation of the jail authorities. We have conducted search operations in all barracks of A and B blocks of the jail. We have confiscated a few packets of cannabis, cigarettes, lighters, two sim cards, mobile phones and screw drivers.”
