Poultry van blows up in fire after collision with bus near Kumbala; two die on spot

Kasargod: A collision between a Volvo bus and a Maruti Eeco van carrying chicken to poultry farm left two dead on National Highway near Kumbala on Wednesday morning.

The deceased are the van driver Ujwalnath (19) from Parappa-Pallanji and helper Masood (21) from Cherkala-Baladka.

The Maruti Echo, which was plying from Kumbala to Kasargod was charred and reduced to mere mangled remain due to the collision while the bus, which was plying from Thiruvananthapuram to Manipal came to a halt after hitting a wall of the house nearby. The bus driver has been injured.

Though the fire fighter rushed to the spot and doused off the fire, the driver and helper who were inside the vehicle could not be saved.

The dead bodies have been kept in the mortuary at Kasargod General Hospital.
