Moodbidri: The family of right wing activist and flower vendor Prashanth Poojary who was hacked to death by a group of people, has asked for a CBI probe into the case.
Addressing a press meet in Moodbidri, the victim’s mother said that all the influential leaders who supported the accused in the case must be punished and arrested. And hence, the case should be handed over to CBI. “Police have arrested the accused involved in the murder. They have also taken action to nab the remaining. We appreciate the police for their work. But one particular people’s representatives and few businessmen have supported the accused and because of political pressure the police have not arrested them”, she said and added that in order to arrest the influential persons there should be a CBI probe. “Only then my son’s soul will rest in peace”, she said.
“Though we have lost our son, Minister Abhaychandra Jain has not visted our house. Even in one of the televion interviews, he has made a comment that my son is a miscreant which is condemnable. We had over Rs 8.50 lakhs of loan and also other loans. Many pro-Hindu activists, seers and businessmen have come to our aid by providing financial help of Rs 20 lakhs. We are grateful to them”, she said.
Prashanth’s father Ananda Poojary and sister Pramitha were present.
Prashanth Poojary, a flower vendor and right wing activist was murdered on October 9 while he was carrying flowers to his shop at around 7 am. Prashanth’s indulgence in illegal cow slaughter and past communal riots are said to be the main reasons behind the murder, as revealed by the arrested. So far ten people accused have been arrested in the case.
