Mangaluru: No matter how bad the times may seem to be, goodness wears a face to show the world its existence.
One such incidents in so called ‘communally sensitive’ Mangalore gives a reason to smile. A Muslim lady who had developed labour pain on outskirts of the city gave birth to a baby in the car of a local head constable on April 12.
Head Constable Ravi Kumar, attached to Vamanjoor Police Station was on his way back after dropping his kids to Kendriya Vidyalaya in Yekkuru, when he saw a distressed Muslim family. When he approached them, he was told that the daughter of the family had developed labour pain and was experiencing extreme discomfort travelling in an auto hired by them.
Ravi Kumar instantly took the lady and family in his car. However, few minutes into the journey the woman gave birth to a child in the car itself here at Pumpwell circle. The two women who accompanied the pregnant lady helped her in the delivery.
She was later admitted to Fr Muller Hospital. Both the baby and mother are said to be fine.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka Ravi Kumar said, “We should be forthcoming to help others, in times of need irrespective of caste or religion. Such an attitude will help to bring peace in the society.”
Naushad, brother of the woman while appreciating the cop’s gesture said that humanity should come before everything else.
