Kasargod: In Kerala, all private buses are being brought under uniform colour code (UCC) , effective February 1.
The government is strictly enforcing the UCC for private buses during the renewal of their licence.
New colour code has been implemented from February 1 and the bus plying between Nileshwara-Kanhangad was the first one to descend on roads in Kasargod region.
The Transport Department had earlier ordered that private buses are required to abide by the colour at the time of license renewal, failing which licence stands cancelled.
Private buses plying in sub-urban areas and city areas are busy incorporating the desired change as per Transport Department guidelines.
Mofussil (rural), City (urban) buses with limited stops (Express) and shuttle buses have been allotted blue, green and maroon colours respectively, with white lines running along the length in the bottom half of the bus body.
