Mangaluru: It is now official that Prof P S Yadapadithaya is the new Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University. Earlier, though the office of the Governor had cleared the appointment of Yadapadithaya on March 11, it was withheld due to the model code of conduct. With the appointment of Yadapadithaya, University has come to have a full-time Vice-Chancellor.

The previous vice-chancellor K Bairappa’s term ended on June 4, 2018. Following this, the Governor had appointed a search committee to find a new Vice-Chancellor. It can be noted that this is the first time an academician from erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district has ascended to the post.

Yadapadithaya is a first batch M.Com student of Mangalore University and he obtained his PhD from the university in 1992 in consumer behaviour. Having successfully supervised 22 PhD scholars in HR department and marketing, he also served the university as the finance officer and registrar (evaluation). He comes with 33 years’ experience in teaching and research and nearly 10 years’ experience in administration.

He is the ninth Vice-Chancellor of the university and he has served as Finance Officer of the university for three years and six months and as registrar (evaluation) for two years and nine months.
