Kundapur: Following the death of an infant during childbirth at a government hospital in Kundapur on Monday (November 20), the public held a demonstration in front of the hospital, accusing doctors of negligence.
On the night of November 17, Davanmane Srinivas Kharvi’s wife, a resident of Guddakeri in Gangolli, was admitted to the hospital due to labor pain. The doctors, who conducted the delivery on Monday morning, conveyed the unfortunate news that the baby had not survived. Family members and villagers raised allegations of negligence against the doctors, asserting that the child’s death was a result of their actions.
District Health Officer (DHO) and Medical Officer Robert Rebello, upon reaching the location, requested the protesters to cease their demonstration. Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole expressed condolences to the grieving family.
