Puttur: Police arrested three persons while transporting Rs 18.8 lakh unaccounted cash on Wednesday, December 7.
The arrested have been identified as Jafar Sharif (28), Nazeer (25) and Mohammed Iqbal (26). The trio was arrested near Mukrampady on Mani-Mysuru state highway. All are said to be the residents of Goltamajalu, Kalladka.
There were Rs 2,000 denomination new notes which amounted to Rs 16.28 lakh. Rs 100 and Rs 50 notes totaled to Rs 1,90,000 and Rs 9,300 respectively.
Puttur rural police carried out the operation.
