Qazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal passes away at age 71

Mangaluru: Al Haj P M Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, prominent Islamic scholar and Qazi of the Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Shivamogga districts, breathed his last at a private hospital in Mangaluru on Thursday, September 24. He was 71 years old.

Originally from Naringana in the Bantwal taluk, Qazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, popularly known as Bekal Ustad, was the state president of the Sunni Jamiyyatul UIlema and Principal of Jamiya SaAdiya Arabic Shariyat College. He was also the Chief Editor of the Al Ansar magazine.

A graduate of the Deoband Arabic College, the Qazi served at the Soorinje and Bantwal Juma Masjids for two years. Later, he served as Mudarris of Bekal for 43 years.

Qazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal is survived by his wife, three sons, and two daughters.

Scores of his followers have mourned and condoled his death on social media.
