RAA to host conference on ‘People Management: Issues & Concerns

Mangaluru: Roshni Alumni Association (regd.) in association with the National Institute of Personnel Management, (NIPM) Mangalore chapter and the HR forum – Roshni Nilaya, department of MSW will be conducting a one-day national conference on “People Management: Issues and Concerns”. The conference will be held at the Maria Paiva hall on the campus of the School of Social Work on 21st September 2019. It will commence at 10.00 AM. The Chief Guest for the day will be the Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof. Yadapadithaya.

The conference will be addressed by five eminent alumni of the Roshni Alumni Association – Sri. H.N.Somashekarappa, Director, People Excel Consulting, Bengaluru, Sri S.N. Gopinath, Past Chairman, NIPM Karnataka Chapter, Bengaluru; Sri Bhima Rao, HR Advisor, Bengaluru; and Sri Ravichandra Bekal, Founder & Consultant, R.B. Consultancy Services, Bengaluru and Asst Prof. C. Odyssey Singh, the faculty in PG department. 

While the conference is a part of the homecoming celebrations of the Roshni Alumni Association for its members, it also aims to plow back the experiential knowledge base of its alumni into its Alma Mater for the wider benefit of its students and society.

The papers presented at the conference by these eminent alumni will be published by the college in the Adelaide Journal of Social Work, the college’s Professional Journal.

The entry for the conference is by invitation and there is no registration fee. More than 150 delegates are expected to attend the conference from the more than ten Institutes of Social Work in Mangalore and other Management Education Institutions across the city and neighbouring Kerala state. Delegates include faculty teaching HR in these Institutions, faculty, field practitioners and many others from various disciplines related to HR like law, CSR, criminology, Corporate / Organizational Psychology, etc.

About Roshni Alumni Association: 

The Alumni Association, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru was started in the year 1978 and revived in the year 2000. It is a proactive parent body of members who are residents of Mangaluru and are always ready to lend a hand in the activities of the college. Periodic association meetings help them keep in touch with the institution. The Alumni help in student placement for Fieldwork during the course period and job placements after completion of the courses at Roshni Nilaya. The Association has also initiated scholarships for the needy students and provides financial assistance to the economically backward students every year. A digital directory of all 7000 students that have passed out since 1960 from the Roshni campus – Under-graduate and Post Graduate Degree and Diploma has been published. The digital directory is the outcome of months of effort by the members of the association. The digital directory is expected to inform, connect and encourage alumni to return to their Alma Mater frequently for the benefit of faculty and students who can learn a lot from their library of experiences.
