Bantwal: A gang of armed men went brandishing weapons at locals, following an attack on a youth at Karopady village here on Monday.
It is said that Nelkaje Mohommed Haneef, a local youth was attacked allegedly by Marthadi Dinesh and gang for cracking a cattle sale deal.
While Dinesh is said to have left the place after the attack his henchmen were at the bus stop where Haneef was attacked.
However, on knowing about the attack, supporters of Haneef rushed to the spot on bikes and went on attacking the attackers. Several suffered severe injuries in the counter attack. They then went on brandishing the weapons in Kanyana town and not just dispersed the locals but also closed down shops.
The angry gang destroyed soda and beverage bottles on the road.
The Vittal police arrived at the spot and controlled the situation.
