Officials from the weather department have issued alerts for coastal Karnataka, predicting rain accompanied by thunder and storms for the next three days, beginning April 18. Overcast conditions dominated Wednesday morning in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, although temperatures later surged, resulting in oppressive heat. Mangaluru city recorded a high of 36.1°C and a low of 28.2°C, while Udupi reached a high of 37.7°C and a low of 26.4°C.
Extended Forecast: Rains and Winds
The forecast extends to April 19 and 20, with rains expected in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan. Additionally, wind speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour are anticipated. Moreover, a temperature rise of three to five degrees is expected over the next five days across most parts of Karnataka.
North Karnataka: Intense Heatwave Continues
In contrast, North Karnataka is gripped by extreme heat, with Kalaburagi recording the highest temperature at 41.4°C on Wednesday. Other regions experiencing high temperatures include Raichur (40.8°C), Bengaluru (36.7°C), Bagalkot (39.8°C), Mandya (38.6°C), Davanagere (39.7°C), Chamarajanagar (37.4°C), and Chitradurga (38.5°C).
