Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested three persons who were allegedly involved in the murder of Rakesh Panjimogaru, on Sunday.
The arrested have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Kouti (26), son of Chennaiah, a resident of Panjimogaru, Kavoor, Praveen Poojary alias Chotu (23), son of Prameshwar Poojary, a resident of Kodical and Preetham alias Abhi (22), son of Sridhar Anchan, a resident of Sunkadakatte, Urwastore.
Among the accused, Sunil has three pending cases of assault and extortion. Praveen Poojary also has pending cases related to robbery, drug peddling and attempt to murder. Another accused Preetham has two pending cases related to assault and ganja peddling.
Sources from the CCB informed that victim Rakesh, a resident of Panjimogaru, Urundadibail and accused were friends. Quarrel erupted between Rakesh and the accused over a trivial issue and they brutally murdered Rakesh at Maladi near Panjimogaru on January 3. Based on a credible information, a team of CCB police headed by Inspector Shantharam succeeded to arrest all three accused on Sunday.
The accused were handed over to Kavoor police station for further investigation, sources said.
