Red Cross polls scheduled to be held on Nov 1

Mangaluru: As resolved in the annual general body meeting of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) held on October 2 under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner, the elections to the post of managing committee of IRCS DK unit will be held at Red Cross Bhavan, behind DC Office, on November 1.

According to the notification issued by Returning Officer Suresh Kumar, the last date to file nomination is 5 pm on October 24. The papers will be scrutinised on October 25 and the list will be displayed in the notice board of the Red Cross Bhavan on the same day.

The last day for withdrawal of nominations is October 26 and the final list will be displayed on the notice board on the same day evening.

If needed, elections will be held at Red Cross Bhavan on November 1 between 9 am and 4 pm. The counting will be held soon after and the results will be declared immediately after the counting.

The members will have to get their Red Cross identity card issued by the IRCS?DK?unit to exercise their franchise. If anyone has lost or misplaced the ID?card, they can apply for a new one by paying a fee of Rs 50 on or before October 26.

The term of the new body will be for three years (2015 – 18).
