Mangaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister B. C. Nagesh has reiterated on Thursday April 28 that religion-related classes will not be allowed in Christian Schools as well as The Bible and Quran studies in school premises in general.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Minister Nagesh said that all those schools which are registered with the Karnataka Education Department should strictly follow this rule. As per the Education Act, no religious books are allowed to be brought into schools but in some Christian schools there is a rule made that the students are required to bring a Bible, he said

Further, the Minister added that it is learnt that this has also been mentioned on the school’s website, and only those who bring Bible will be allowed to enter the school. Hence, I have instructed the authorities to look into the matter and for any reason religion-based teaching will not be allowed in schools, he asserted.
