Mangaluru: District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to help and work around strict measures taken to restrict religious programmes in the district in particular and elsewhere in the state in the backdrop of the problem faced by the concerned to undertake religious programmes. He requested the CM to take some corrective measures within the Covid guidelines.
Poojary made this request in a memorandum as only religious programmes have been completely banned for the public, while the other programmes have been asked to restrict only the participants. This blanket ban on religious programmes has created problems for the smooth conduct of religious rituals, he opined.
Many religious programmes have already been scheduled and a huge amount of money has been spent. Thus, this blanket ban has inconvenienced organisers to hold the rituals symbolically too. Therefore, he has requested the CM to reconsider the decision and give some concession concerning the participation of the public in religious programmes.
