Respect the service of the Indian Army within the heart: DCP

Mangaluru: Felicitating the ex-Indian Army soldiers who have served the nation, Deputy Commissioner of Police Uma Prashanth, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas said that armymen deserve respect irrespective of their ranks.

Speaking after inaugurating the Inter-School Workshop on Patriotism and National Pride to mark the 19th Kargil Vijay Divas organized by Lions Club Mangalore under the aegis of Centre for Integrated Learning and Dakshina Kannada District Ex-Servicemen’s Association here on Thursday July 26, she said that it is the duty of every citizen to remember the valuable and unparalleled contributions made by the armymen for the sake of the motherland.

Stating that students should imbibe discipline, values and virtues from ex-armymen, the DCP called upon the students and youth to stay away from bad habits and focus more on personality and skill development.

“Our soldiers are working very hard to safeguard the country and its citizens. Patriotism should also mean working everyday towards making this a better nation,” she said.

DCP Uma Prashanth along with other dignitaries felicitated ex-servicemen JWO Harishchandra Shetty, Bhujanga Shetty and Janardhan.

Colonel N Sharath Bhandary briefed the gathering about the Kargil War of 1999.

Dr Udaya Kumar Barkur, Ln K Devdas Bhandary, Governor of Lions District 317D, LN Vijaya Vishnu Mayya President of Lions Club Mangalore, Vikram Datta President of DKESA, Shrinivas Nanda Gopal Convener of CIL, Sachitha Nandagopal Executive Director of CIL were present.
