Bantwal: A retired school teacher died in a car mishap near Ponnody in Kaikamba on National Highway on Tuesday, May 3.
Laxminarayana Varna (62), a resident of Puttur in Kundapura and a retired teacher of Ramakunja school is the deceased.
The incident took place when the teacher along with his wife was returning from Mangaluru. When they reached Ponnody, he lost control over the car and hit the divider. The car then toppled and Laxminarayana suffered severe injuries. His wife suffered minor injuries and has been shifted to Mangaluru hospital.
Laxminarayana succumbed to injuries at the hospital in the evening.
Traffic ASI Chandrashekharaiah visited the spot and a case has been registered with Banwtal traffic police.
