Mangaluru: Alleging that Arabic and Urdu was being forcefully taught to students, right-wing activists of Sri Rama Sene (SRS) raided St Thomas Higher Primary school at Padu Bandanthila on Saturday, July 30.
According to sources, around 50 to 60 SRS activists raided the school after locals complained about students being taught Arabic and Urdu forcibly. The activists alleged that every Saturday between 9.15 to 10 am, students of 6th and 7th standards were ‘forced’ to learn Urdu and Arabic. They questioned the school management and also the teachers.
Zonal president of Sri Rama Sene, Anand Shetty said that the languages were being taught forcibly to students from the last four months. He also informed that the activists caught the teachers teaching the languages red handed.
“If the management wants to teach Arabic and Urdu, let them teach holy scrpitures like Bhgavad Gita and Vedas too,” he said.
The headmaster of the school has assured that the Arabic and Urdu classes will be stopped immediately.
