Mangaluru: The Doctors of Rotary Club of Mangalore City (RCMC), held a workshop on basic life support for the NSS students at Canara College on July 4.
The workshop was an attempt to create awareness and train the NSS students on the life-saving techniques during times of emergency. The art of assisting proactively at the time of an emergency needs proper training to avoid any mistakes. Programmes like these will ensure that the volunteer base among the laymen grows and the survival rates of the victims increase, in our vicinities.
The Students were given a hands-on opportunity on the mannequin, mimicking a real-time scenario, performing chest compressions and rescue breaths, and on using the AED.
The Resource Persons were Rtn Dr. Sudhakar T – Orthopaedic Surgeon, Govt. Wenlock District Hospital, Mangalore; Rtn Dr Ranjan RK (President, RCMC) – Anaesthetist, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and Rtn Dr Rohan Monis (Club Director, International Services) – Chief Administrative Officer, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre, Mangalore.
Rtn Prashanth Rai (Secretary, RCMC), Rtn Shailendra Pai (Sergeant at arms, RCMC), Rtn Vishwanath Mallya among others were also present.
