Mangaluru: Children from rural area should get opportunity to play games like table tennis, badminton. So the state government has given priority to encourage sports activities in the rural area, said Minister for youth and sports K Abahychandra Jain.
He was speaking after the inauguration of Table tennis-Badminton indoor stadium of Tarpodus Sports club near light house in Haleyangady.
Canara Bank national athlete Krinal Telang, businessman Mahabala Poodary Kadambody and Dr Arvind Bhat were the chief guests on the occasion. Former MLA Jayaprakash Hegde presided over the programme.
Tarpodus president Gautham Shetty delivered introductory remarks and H Vijayanatha Hegde welcomed. Rajeshwari D Shetty compered and director Chandrakanth Marathe proposed vote of thanks.
Senior table tennis player and coach Ashwin Padukone was honoured on the occasion. After the inaugural, table tennis and badminton games were held.
