Puttur: The issue of male students of Bellare Govt College wearing saffron shawls to college as counter to some female students wearing head scarf in classroom ceased to find a logical solution during the dialogue held between two groups of students in the college on Tuesday. It may be recalled that male students of the college, belonging to one particular religion had started donning saffron shawls over their uniforms as counter to female students of particular religion covering their heads in the classroom. The male students had demanded that religious practices must be kept out of the college portals and that the female students must be asked to remove their head scarf, which is not a part of their uniform.
On Tuesday, during the dialogue, the female students who refused to stop wearing the scarf said that they would wear head scarfs that would match the uniform, to which the other faction objected.
With the meeting failing to find a solution to the problem, the College Development Committee is due to meet on Saturday with Committee President S Angara in chair.
